What is Spinal Flow?
Spinal Flow is a revolutionary healing modality that is gentle and highly effective in supporting the body in its healing. Through specific access points along the spine, your practitioner is able to connect with your nervous system allowing the mind-body connection to begin to repair. Spinal Flow is used to remove layers of stress and trauma from the body so that it can return to a state of homeostasis and heal. As these layers are removed more flow is created through the body allowing the client to experience more of who they are and to support the body in its innate ability to heal itself.
Your first session will be an hour long, your follow ups will be 30 min. Your initial session is 1:1 and we will discuss your health history, followed by a physical assessment on your posture and spine. Then you will have your first spinal flow session. Afterwards we will discuss and develop a treatment plan that is unique to your needs.
How does Spinal Flow work & Who is it for?
When we encounter stress or trauma, our body's natural response is to activate the sympathetic nervous system, leading to a fight or flight response. This response causes our spine to compress, protecting our spinal cord and brain from danger. However, prolonged stress can lead to blockages in the spine, compromising the nerve supply and communication between the nerves and other systems in the body. This can result in various symptoms, such as pain, illness, and a dis-ease in the body.
With spinal flow, we can bring more ease and flow into the system, removing stored stress, releasing blockages, and returning the nervous system to a parasympathetic state where it can rest, digest and heal. This is accomplished by targeting specific points on the body where the dura mater, the outermost layer of connective tissue within the meninges, can be accessed. The meninges are a protective membrane encasing the brain and spinal cord. By directly contacting the dura mater, communication with the nervous system is established, and the mind-body connection begins to repair. As the mind-body connection builds, and blockages begin to decrease, more flow will increase in the body. The flow is increased through the movement of cerebrospinal fluid which creates a wave in the body that is expressed through various flow types such as breath, movement or an internal perception that is often described as a feeling of coming home to the body. The more flow we create into the system the more readily the body can restore, release and heal.
"When this stuck energy is restored to the whole organism, we can begin to live more fully—to create, accomplish, communicate, collaborate, and share. Instead of being engaged merely in survival, we can then come back to our balanced place, where we’re basically social animals. The fear and paralysis and dread drop away, and we come back into the present, because we have access to all of the energy previously bound up in our freezing and immobility, in our incomplete fight and flight responses.”
